Jones and son are a family run business; many of our products are manufactured by us and then distributed from our warehouse in Devon. All orders made by 3pm are delivered next working day to the entire UK. Delivery to the rest of Europe takes 3 working days.

The two questions we are asked the most is 'how to kill rats painlessly' and 'how to kill a rat humanely'.

Well, here at Jones & Son we believe that it is not possible to kill rats painlessly. Currently the most widely used method used to kill a rat is poison rodenticides. Almost all of these rat baits and rat poisons contain anticoagulants which thin the blood of the rat. Death usually occurs from internal bleeding.

We believe the only humane way to deal with rats is to use Humane Rat Traps; they don't kill a rat they simply trap it alive. The trapped rat is then simply released at a distance of 2 miles, never to return. We like to call them 'rat relocation units'.

Jones & Son's key staff are trained and qualified with the Royal Society of Health; they have pioneered the 3T plan, 'Track, Trap, Thwart' that is being adopted by many in the pest control industry.

So when we are asked 'how to kill rats' or 'how to kill a rat humanely' our answer is don't because:

  1. It isn't humane, the rat will die slowly.
  2. Don't use poisons; you never know if a child, cat or bird of prey will get hold of the poison or the poisoned rat.
  3. Don't use poisons or you might end up with a smelling rodent under your floor or in the wall cavity.

If you've got any "How to kill Rats questions" then please contact us. We guarantee to get back to you within 2 hours. Why not test us; if we fail we'll send you a large bar of chocolate.
